The historic Wealden
town of Cranbrook is
an excellent starting point for the keen tourist.
Numerous historic houses and castles are
within easy reach, including Leeds Castle,
Scotney Castle, Ightham Moat, Knole House
and Batemans. A little further afield are Hever
Castle, Chartwell and Penshurst Place.
Gardens open to the oublic in the area include
Sissinghurst Castle Gardens, Pashley Manor,
Marle Place and Great Dixter.
Finchcocks Living Museum of Music is a few
minutes away and the nearby town of Tenterden
hosts the Kent and Sussex Steam Railway.
For the more energetic visitor there are
numerous sporting pastimes to be enjoyed,
including golf, horse riding and sailing. Rambling
and cycling is a real pleasure over the beautiful
countryside with well signposted footpaths and
roads. Guests are welcome to use the swimming
pool during the summer months.
